The Beach & Pier
The pier is the center of town in every way that matters — surfers split the waves on either side, kids fish off the rail, and the sand below fills up with umbrellas by ten on a summer Saturday. It's about a five-minute walk from the front door. Go at least once at sunset, even if it means eating dinner late.

Del Mar Avenue covers the coffee, the tacos, and the date-night dinners, all within a stroll. If you only try one place, make it Antoine's Café — it's been the family go-to for as long as anyone can remember, and nobody has ever come back disappointed. Trails & Outdoors
The beach trail picks up near the house and hugs the water — north past the pier, south toward T-Street and Calafia. It's flat, the ocean keeps you company the whole way, and you'll share it with joggers, dogs, and the occasional Amtrak rolling through. Rent a bike nearby if you didn't bring one.
Surf & Gear Rentals
No need to haul equipment down the coast. Pier Market rents surfboards, boogie boards, and bikes a few steps off the sand, and every unit already has a beach wagon, chairs, an umbrella, and towels waiting for you. Walk down empty-handed, come back salty.
